Myth of Medusa

There is nothing new about her story,

And maybe that’s the worst part

A beautiful girl against

A man who won’t accept “no.”

Who took the most sacred part of her,

And claimed it as his own.

There is nothing special about what happened.

How the men saw her as cursed.

Her “impurity” a result of her beauty.

That he got a hearty congratulation,

While she got eternal isolation.

__

There is nothing different about her idol only trying

To protect her.

While “brave warriors” were trying to hunt her.

About her self-defense seen as cruelty,

And her protections seen as ugly.

__

There is nothing new about her story.

Poseidon or neighbor.

Priestess or drunk girl.

“Monster” or “whore”

The story is the same.

And, oh, what a tragedy that is.
